This paper investigates how biased health perceptions affect COVID-19 induced mental health problems. Results show that approximately 30% of the respondents overestimate their health. Overconfident respondents are more likely to suffer from mental health problems. These effects are stronger in regions that were particularly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
